Login into Kite
First of all, download the Kite mobile app from the Play Store and App Store and log in with your Zerodha account.
Go To Bids
After Logging into your Zerodha Account, You have to go to the Bids Section from the bottom dashboard.

Switch To Govt. Securities
In the Bids section, you see three categories Auction, IPOs and Govt. Security. Here you have to switch to Govt Securities.
Search For SGB
Now, you will see all the available Govt securities for investment, Simply click on the Bids option in SGB. All the latest SGB issues will be shown at the top of this list but if don’t see then you can also use the search tool.
Place the Bid
Finally, you have to enter the amount in which you to invest and then swipe the buy button. Note the price will be deducted from your Zerodha wallet on the closing day. So make sure you have money available in your wallet.

How To Buy SGB in Zerodha Kite Web?
The Process to Buy SGB on Zerodha Web is almost similar to the Kite app. You can follow these simple steps to buy SGB in Zerodha Web:
- To Begin with, you will have to log in to Zerodha Kite Web.
- Click on Bids from the top dashboard and then switch to Switch To Govt. Securities.
- Enter the amount and click on Place Bid.

How to Cancel SGB order?
- To Begin with, you will have to log in to Zerodha Web.
- Click on Bids from the top dashboard and then switch to Switch To Govt. Securities.
- Select SGB unit.
- Tap Cancel order to Cancel your orders. You can also do this from the “Open” section on the “Orders” page.
How to Buy SGB From the Secondary Market?
Purchasing SGB From the Secondary Market is almost similar to purchasing stocks and ETFs. However, your transaction for higher volume may fail in the secondary market. You can follow these steps to invest in SGB:
- Login to Zerodha Kite.
- Search for SGB from the search tool.
- Select Unit and tap on Buy option.
- Enter quantity and other parameters if required.
- Finally, Swipe the Buy button to confirm your purchase.

How to Check SGB Allotment Status Zerodha
To check the SGB allotment status in Zerodha you have to follow these steps:
- Login to the Kite App using your User ID.
- Select Orders from the dashboard.
- Now switch to “Open” to see the SGB allotment status in Zerodha.
Few things to about SGB purchased through Zerodha
- SGB purchases from Bids are placed through the primary market.
- SGB will be allotted after 15 days of issue closer.
- It may take up to an additional 15 days to show the SGB units in your account.
- You will receive an email about your SGB investment status after offer closure.
- Fund will be debited from your Zerodha wallet on the offer closer date.
- SGBs cannot be purchased with credit from stocks sold on the closing day of the offer.
- Refund for fractional units will be credited to your primary bank account within 5-6 days.
- SGBs bought from the secondary market will be reflected in your holding on T+2 day.
